Architect & Educator

Gustav Düsing (*1984) is an architect and educator. A graduate of the Architecture Association in London, Düsing has been running his own office in Berlin since 2015. He has participated in numerous art and architecture exhibitions including the first ever Antarctic Biennale (2017). He is the 2020 recipient of the Rome Prize for Architecture and currently is an Artist in Residence at the German Academy in Rome, Villa Massimo. As an Assistant Professor of architecture he taught a master-studio in experimental design at the Technical University Braunschweig (2015 – 2019) and the UDK Berlin and is currently a visiting professor at the Dipartimento di Architettura dell’Università Roma Tre. Throughout his work at the intersection of art and architecture, Gustav Düsing explores the translation of natural phenomena into spatial concepts with the aim of finding new ways for architecture to intervene in environments that are increasingly under strain from humanity’s modes of habitation.
