Marietta Slomka

Journalist

Marietta Slomka is Head Anchor of the ZDF Heute Journal since 2001. She holds a degree in economics and studied economics and politics in Cologne and the United Kingdom. After a traineeship at the Deutsche Welle, she worked as a political correspondent in Brussels, Bonn and Berlin. Alongside her role as anchor, she also continues with her work as correspondent. Her coverage has taken her to Eastern Europe, China, Africa and South America, among other places. Marietta Slomka is also author of several specialized books on politics; most recently, she published the book „Nachts im Kanzleramt. Alles, was man schon immer über Politik wissen wollte.“ For her journalistic work, she has been awarded with the Grimme Prize, the Hanns Joachim Friedrichs Prize, the German Television Prize and the Media Prize for Language Culture of the German Language Society, among others.
